Caolan Ward faces a long commute for training during the week, but he doesn’t mind doing it as he chases success with Donegal.
Ward qualified from Carlow IT last year and works as a Strength and Conditioning coach at Declan Brennan Sports Management’s Health Centre of Excellence just outside Clontibret.
That makes getting to training challenging, but the prospect of winning medals drives the 25-year-old on.
“I’m still down in Monaghan. It’s a three-hour commute to training each night. If I wasn’t here to win something I wouldn’t be doing it.
“On a usual evening, I would leave Monaghan at four o’clock to be in Ballybofey or Convoy for half five.
“You jump in the car then shortly after nine to be home for eleven, and some mornings you could be up at six o’clock.
“Declan Brennan is my boss down in Monaghan and he is very accommodating.”
