Fundraising for families of Bruckless crash victims

A FUNDRAISING campaign for the dependants of Rachel Cassidy Battles and Mairead Mundy, two mothers from Bruckless who died in a road traffic accident in Ardee in July is underway.

Rachel and Mairead died in a crash on the N2 near Ardee, County Louth which also claimed the life of Mairead’s mother Margaret. Rachel left behind four children – two girls and two boys while Mairead is survived by her 13 year old son.

Nearly two months on a Fundraising committee has been established to raise funds for the children. Friends and neighbours of the families are going door to door selling tickets for a raffle for a draw taking place at a fun day in Bruckless Community Centre this Sunday.

The fun day, in memory of the women, will take place from 2pm to 6pm and tickets are €10 per family. There will be a BBQ, bouncy castle, St Catherine’s Band, a cake sale, face painting, live music and arts and crafts. Donegal driver Donagh Kelly’s rally car will also be on display and there will be a penalty shoot out for different age groups and the winner will get a Seamie Coleman signed jersey.

Anyone wishing to donate can contact Yvonne on 087 9115160 , Maura on 0879587921 or can email the committee at
