Two men remanded in custody over Letterkenny fire

Two men charged in connection with a fire in Letterkenny which caused hundreds of thousands of euro in damage have been remanded in custody until later this month.

Paul McGinley, 30, of Glen Hola, Gortahork, and his co-accused, 40-year-old Owen McFadden, of Falcarragh, appeared before Letterkenny District Court on Monday.

Solicitor, Frank Dorrian, told the court he would not be making a bail application as he was having difficulty securing independent bail sureties.

A number of people have been left homeless following the early morning apartment block blaze on Thursday morning of last week, in which two businesses were also gutted and nine cars destroyed.

Both men will appear via videolink at a sitting of Letterkenny District Court on Monday, October 17.
