Name: Shane Porter

Age: Just turned 21 unfortunately

Occupation: I’ve a few, could say I’m a bit of a youth worker, but with the hours I’m putting in with Kildrum 14’s I would nearly call myself a full-time football coach at this stage

Team: Gweedore Celtic

If you were throwing a party and you could invite anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would you ask around?
I’d have to say my love Michelle Keegan always need something to look at.

Where do you like to go out to celebrate after a big victory?
Depends, if its a game on a Bank Holiday I’d be in the Golden Grill, a normal weekend I would probably just go for Pat’s with the boys.

What’s the worst pitch you’ve ever played on? Worst pitch I’ve ever played on would have to be the cow field Kilmac call a pitch. Don’t think I’ve played on worse ever but Glenea’s wouldn’t be far away either – its all holes and has a slant. It’s another poor pitch.

Which character in any film are you most like? I’d have to go with Will Smith in any of his films, one of the coolest men about and the birds he’s with in his films are always unreal.

Any odd items in your kit bag?
None really. An odd item I would have to say Vaseline, you never know when one of the boys would be needing it.

Who’s the biggest joker in the team you play for? Biggest joker would have either myself or Jaydee, however when we’re together its just trouble.

Which team mate has the best looking other half?
I know Jay will be expecting me to say him but I would have to go with the bigger bro Chris, he’ll beat the head of me for this but Rachel is different grade.

Who is the worst trainer?
Aww this is an easy one haha, I would have to take this one. I don’t think any of the boys would disagree, but I make up for it in the games.

Who spends most time in front of the mirror in the dressing room? Again this one is easy Jay without question, stands fixing his afro putting on his moisturizer then puts on a wee hairband (I think Amy gave it to him, that’s the only reason he wears it)

Who’s the best/worst person to sit beside on the team bus? This is a tight one we aren’t often on a bus but if we were I’d have to say Daimo (you can never trust a Limerick man sitting next to you) or Paul Rua. He has an awful taste in music, either the classics or Drake. The skipper Jambo wouldn’t be far away either, he chats complete rubbish all the time.

Who has the best and who has the worst diet on the team, and what does it include? There aren’t many who have a good diet. I would have to say Brendan McGeady. I don’t think I’ve seen him eat anything other than a banana haha. Worst diet – I would have to say Ned, he wouldn’t eat too much but loves a pint or 12.

Toughest opponent you have faced?
Toughest opponent I’ve ever faced would have to be Rory Holden for Derry 19’s when I was at Letterkenny Rovers. He was by far the smartest player I’ve played against absolutely killed us every game he played. I tried to kick him a few times but it just didn’t work.

Best or worst quote you’ve heard, either from a manager, player, opponent?
A quote I always remember was an interview with Jim McGuinness on the Late Late Show a few years back he said ‘the biggest risk you take is not taking one’.The Roy Keane one from when I was a wee waain and I use it still to this day ‘fail to prepare prepare to fail’. Trevor Scanlon also told me one at Letterkenny – ‘strikers win you games, but defenders win you leagues and cups’. They are three that I always use and go by.

Best manager you’ve ever played under?
I’ve never had a bad one thankfully George (Jonny McGinty) under 16’s was excellent he had you ready to go through a wall before the games. Anto (Anthony Gorman) wouldn’t be far away for Letterkenny, he had everything covered right down to the finest detail and really helped me lot for the few years I was with Rovers.

Best ever performance?
This is a difficult one I’ve had that many its hard to pick just one, too many to choose from.

One to forget? Always said the game against Linfield 18’s for Institute in Windsor Park, 2-1 up in the 93rd minute I scored arguably my best goal, a diving header from 25 yards out into the bottom corner of my own net to make it 2-2. It’s a goal I’ll be trying to forget for the rest of my football life.

Sporting ambition?
Obviously growing up everyone wants to be a professional footballer but realistically just to play at the highest level I can, hopefully get a crack at senior football in the next couple of seasons and win a couple of leagues and cups along the way.

When you were playing in the back garden, who did you pretend to be? I had a few always loved being Beckham mainly because when I scored I could run about shouting BECKHAMMMMM. Either Beckham or Roberto Carlos – his and my left peg are pretty similar.

If you were in charge of transfers, who’d be in and who’d be out of the team? I would definetly be enquiring about big Ibrahimovic with him out of contract, hopefully we can strike a deal with him before July. He would have to fight for his place with Tommy (Diver) running about, and with big Eamon (McGee) coming back he might find it hard to get in at the start. I would sell Daimo he’s costing the club too much money with all the bookings.
