Elderly man dies in Dungloe house fire tragedy

A MAN in his 80s has been found dead after a house fire in Dungloe this morning.

The fire was reported at around 2.30 am this morning in the man’s home at Pole Road, Meenmore.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the man, a widower who lived alone, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out later today.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination, however, the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

The man who died is very well-known in the area, but his name is being withheld until all relatives have been informed.
