THE site of a proposed multi-million euro private hospital in Letterkenny has been put on the market with an asking price of €300,000. The commercial 6.24 acre site is part of the former Unifi facility at Kiltoy.
Ten years ago, details of an ambitious private hospital and healthcare clinic on a three floor 12,000 sq metre facility were first unveiled for the site.
At the time Mr Pat Harvey, of North West Healthcare, and former CEO of the North Western Health Board told the Donegal News that Wyndale Clinic would provide up to 80 beds, offering extensive operating capacity, new diagnostics and a “state-of-the-art” radiotherapy centre. When fully operational it was to employ up to 300 staff.
However, with the advent of the downturn in the economy, the ambitious project never got off the ground.
Last week the site was put on the market by the receiver and the sale is being conducted by DNG Boyce Gallagher.
According to the vendor, the property comprises a holding of agricultural land extending to 2.53 hectares (6.24acres).
“The entire is set on a slight gradient, irregular in shape and bounded by hedges and fences. Enjoying good main road frontage,” the brochure read.
Ballyraine Industrial Estate and Letterkenny Business Park are located within close proximity to the site and the proposed Bonagee link road will run beside it.
