CANDIDATES seeking a Fianna Fáil nomination to contest the General Election in the newly-formed Donegal Constituency will get their first opportunity to canvass the support of the local organisation in Stranorlar tonight.
It follows confirmation that six people have put their names forward to run for the party in the new five-seat constituency which takes in the whole county except for parts in the south including Bundoran, and Ballyshannon which have moved to the Sligo Leitrim constituency.
Sitting TD Charlie McConalogue, former Junior Minister and MEP Pat the Cope Gallagher and Councillor James Pat McDaid had already confirmed their intention to run.
They are joined by sitting councillors Liam Blaney and Seamus O’Domhnaill and Claudia Kennedy, a secondary school teacher from Bundoran, who contested last year’s local elections in the Stranorlar constituency.
