ATHLETICS: Historic day for two young Donegal athletes

UCD students Mark English (Letterkenny) and Karl Griffin (Donegal Town) have reached the final of the European U23 800m in Tallin, Estonia, this afternoon.

English, a medical student, finished third in his semi-final just a few minutes after watching team-mate Griffin come 4th in the first semi-final, in a time of 1.48.65 which woud be good enough to secure his place in tomorrow’s final.

Both athletes successfuly came through their heats on Friday.
