IF YOU are at a loose in Dublin tonight and are a fan of Irish music, you will not want to miss the album launch of one of the hottest trad duos currently emerging.
Seán-nós dancer and concertina player Caitlín Nic Gabhann and Donegal fiddle player Ciarán Ó Maonaigh, renowned performers in their own right, are launching their self-titled album tonight at Whelan’s, Wexford Street, at 7.30pm.
In the video above (hat-tip to @Twotubetv), filmed yesterday, Caitlín and Ciarán perform The Morning Dew/The New Moon Meadows ahead of their performance at Bealtaine Festival.
A ‘duo’ on and off stage, the young couple’s album, Caitlín & Ciarán, is a real breath of fresh air as the three-time All-Ireland winning concertina player and Gaoth Dobhair fiddle player embark on a brand new musical venture together which has already taken them to America
Caitlín & Ciarán will be performing at An Grianán Theatre, Letterkenny, on May 9, their only Donegal date on the tour. You can find out more about the duo and their upcoming tour at www.caitlin.ie
