COLM McFadden sparkled on Monday night in an inter-county challenge as Donegal recorded a high-scoring win over Galway in Tourlestrane.

The St Michael’s man hit 1-6 as Donegal overcame the Tribesmen in another useful workout for Rory Gallagher’s charges. McFadden had yet to find his form in the National League, but here he was on fire.

St Naul’s man Stephen Griffin, who has returned from Australia and rejoined the county squad, came off the bench to score 1-1, while Willie Gillespie of Naomh Colmcille also struck 1-1 as a sub and Gary McFadden notched a handful of points from centre-forward.

David Walsh continued his recovery from injury with a second-half appearance.

DONEGAL: Michael Boyle; Joe Gibbons, Sean Hensey, Eamonn Ward; Ciaran McGinley, Caolan Kelly, Declan Walsh; Martin McElhinney, Hugh McFadden; Eoin Mchugh, Gary McFadden, Eunan Doherty; Ryan Malley, Colm McFadden, Darach O’Connor. Subs used: Willie Gillespie, Kevin McBrearty, Stephen Griffin, Cory Gallagher, David Walsh, Mark Anthony McGinley.

There were high hopes ahead of the first weekend of the Super 8s, but unfortunately the football didn't live...

Donegal face Roscommon in Dr Hyde Park on Saturday at 5pm.
