GARDAI are appealing for information after the owner of a Letterkenny take away was robbed at knife-point by two men on Monday night.
Margo Harkin who owns the Hot Plate take-away beside the Swilly Inn at Gortlee has been left traumatised by the incident. She was forced by two masked men, armed with a knife to open the till of her shop and hand over a small sum of money.
The incident happened at 9.40pm and gardai have asked for anyone who was in the area or saw anything suspicious to get in touch with them.
Mrs Harkin described the ordeal as terrifying.
“When they couldn’t get the till to open they dragged me over to it with the knife to my throat – I was terrified and didn’t know what they would do next. They did get away with a small sum of money,” Mrs Harkin said.
This is the second incident in recent days where a Letterkenny premises has been robbed. The Checkout shop at Oldtown road was also broken into in the early hours of Monday morning and a sum of money was taken.
