ENTRIES are invited to the 2014 North West Words schools poetry competition. There are three categories in the competition: 5th and 6th class Primary, junior level Secondary and senior level Secondary.
Students can write a poem on any theme. Entries may be typed or neatly handwritten. Entrant’s name, address and contact number and the category of their entry should be written on the back of entries. Students should keep a copy of their poem as entries will not be returned.
Winning writers and their parents and teachers will be invited to the prize-giving ceremony at North West Words in Cafe Blend on October 31. Winning poems will be published on the group’s website www.northwestwords.com
Entries should be sent to North West Words, 54 Thornberry, Letterkenny, Donegal by 5.30pm on Friday, October 17.
This year the judge is poet Deirdre Hines and the prizes are sponsored by the International Police Association, Colmcille Region.
North West Words has been promoting creative writing in the north-west since March 2010 with monthly arts events and open mic in Café Blend in Letterkenny.
