AROUND 400 people packed the function room in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny this morning to hear the two competing consortiums for the broadcast license currently held by Highland Radio.

Highland Radio Ltd led by Managing Director Shaun Doherty gave their presentation which was followed by a Question and Answer session led by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland’s Chairperson Siobhan Burke.

The majority of Highland’s staff were in the audience dressed in a team Highland uniform to lend their support.

The opposing consortium seeking to secure the ten year license instead of Highland Radio is Donegal Commercial Broadcasting Ltd, to be know as DLFM, led by its chairperson, well-known businessman Mr Paddy Simpson.

Both presentations outline each applicants vision for the future of the station and how they might grow what is already one of the most successful local radio stations in Europe.
