Naomh Conaill re-appoint Paddy Campbell as manager

Donegal v Kildare - Allianz NFL Semi - Final

BY CHRIS MCNULTY

PADDY Campbell has been re-appointed for a second year in charge of Naomh Conaill.

Campbell has just ended his first year in charge of the Glenties club and the former Donegal full-back wasted no time in confirming that he wished to stay in the role. Campbell was ratified at a meeting of the club executitve on Monday night.

Campbell has yet to confirm his backroom team for the 2014 campaign.

“He is in the process of looking at a few things and talking to people about that, but he is to come back to us within a week to confirm,” said Vincent Cranley, the Naomh Conaill secretary.

“Paddy is planning to change a few things and move things on again.”

Naomh Conaill exited the 2013 Donegal at the group stage after being pipped to the post by Malin, by virtue of their facile win over Cloughaneely. The Glenties club are set for a mid-table finish in Division 1 of the All-County League.

Campbell played full-back for Naomh Conaill and was the captain in 2005 when they won their first Donegal SFC title.

NAOMH COLMCILLE SEEK NEW BOSS

Meanwhile, James Cullen has stepped down as manager of Naomh Colmcille after one season in charge of the Newtowncunningham-based team. Cullen took over early in the 2013 campaign following the departure of Joe Higgins. Naomh Colmcille maintained a strong challenge for a promotion play-off berth, but just missed out in Division 3.

The club is now seeking applications for the position and applicants are advised to contact the club secretary, Alison Ferry, on 087 9154559.
