Union J cancel Letterkenny gig

TEENAGE fans of X Factor stars Union J were left bitterly disappointed yesterday (Thursday) after the band was forced to cancel a concert in Letterkenny.

The band were due to play in The Clanree Hotel last night but yesterday morning it was confirmed the gig was cancelled because one of the band members George was injured in an accident.

Concert promoter, Robert Allen, said they were disappointed but ‘unfortunately it is out of our hands’.

“We’re as disappointed as all the young fans. They will be able to get a full refund, including a booking fee, tomorrow morning,” he said.

“One of the band members had to be taken to hospital in Bristol after an accident so the gigs in Letterkenny and Derry were cancelled. The only people who will be out of pocket are ourselves because we’d booked the hotel, security and other services, but that’s they way it goes,” Mr Allen added.

The singer, George, tweeted to fans apologising for missing the trip to Donegal.

“So sorry to everyone in Ireland. I have had an accident so we won’t be able to perform tomorrow, so our gigs have been pulled. Sorry,” he tweeted.

“I’m fine. Just had an accident and won’t be able to perform tomorrow. Will be fine in a week or so.”

However, many fans have been left angry and disappointed by the news.

Tickets had sold out for the event. Many had been offered in prizes and raffles in the run up to Christmas.
