GWEEDORE native Bridín Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh has been causing quite a stir with her dramatic storylines as she goes into her third season as Katy in TG4’s Ros na Rún.
Katy’s latest storylines have included arriving to school covered in bruises and lying that her father was beating her; being in a car accident – this led to her time spent in hospital and the death of her boyfriend Kyle; entally and physically abusing Coilín, an elderly man in the village- this led to Katy spending time in Juvenille detention and faking her own kidnapping to steal a ransom from her father.
Most recently Katy and father John Joe are strained as Katy gets herself into yet more trouble and tells John Joe that she has been raped – but will John Joe believe his manipulative daughter?
Bridín has been awarded National Best Actress in Féile Scoil Dramaíochta as well as National and international awards in public speaking.
Katy’s father John Joe, played by Niall Mac Eachmharcaigh of Rann na Feirste. John Joe reguraly suffers a broken heart at the hands of his daughter. Niall has worked on Ros na Rún for 10 years now and has a history in writing and directing comedy.
