Thy Kingdom Come: Donegal draw Kerry!

DONEGAL have been drawn to play Kerry in the All-Ireland quarter-final after the draw paired the teams together.

However, their balls weren’t pulled from the drum aside each other.

Donegal were initially drawn alongside Down, but as they met in last weekend’s Ulster final they cannot meet again.

That meant just one possibility remained – Kerry.

It now sets up the tantalising prospect of a first ever Championship meeting between the two counties.

It will bring Jack O’Connor’s Kerry – who are gathering steam once again – up against this famed style of Donegal’s and this marks it out as the stand-out tie of a mouth-watering quarter-final draw.

Beaten by Cork in Munster, Kerry stuttered past Westmeath before stunning Tyrone with a ten-point win in Fitzgerald Stadium last weekend and then easing past Clare tonight.

Former Dublin star Barney Rock has predicted a Tir Chonaill win. “I think Donegal might edge it,” he said on RTE at the draw.

GAA chiefs will meet tomorrow to determine the day and time of the games which will take place next weekend.
