It's getting curiouser and curiouser

FROM earthquakes to northern lights, and even snow in June, Donegal has seen an array of strange phenomena over recent months. This week, however, more strange weather activity took place in the county with funnel clouds or ‘twisters’ spotted in a number of locations.

On Monday a 700 metre long twister was seen in the sky over Buncrana, and has been described by weather experts as an extremely rare occurrence.

Speaking to the Donegal News, local weather forecaster Kenneth McDonagh, who operates the Donegal Weather Channel, explained: “There has been some crazy weather in recent weeks. On Monday I had lots of reports and pictures of funnel clouds around Donegal they were spotted in Kilmacrennan, Lifford, Fanad and we even had a twister Buncrana which stuck just after 11.30am on Monday. It was up to 700 metres in length and it had passed over Slieve Sneacht.”
