Donegal recovers but another bout of wind and rain on way

LARGE tracts of East Donegal suffered some of its worst flooding in decades as a result of high winds, heavy rain and high tides on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The extreme weather conditions left numerous roads impassable from the Finn Valley down to Lifford, the Lagan Valley and in the Kilmacrennan, Letterkenny and Glenswilly areas.
The west of the county escaped without any serious damage despite winds of up to 160 kilometres an hour (100 mph) battering the coast.
In some parts, water levels were as high as one metre (over three feet) leading to widespread traffic chaos.
